Nine at the Top stands at the summit of The Taming Power of the Great — accumulation is complete, restraint is released, and the time is fully ripe. "One attains the way of heaven. Success" — bearing the great thoroughfare of heaven, all paths are open, all endeavors prosper. "He" means "to bear" or "to carry"; "the way of heaven" is a road as vast and open as heaven itself.
The Xiao Xiang Commentary says: "The great way prevails." This is the most perfect conclusion: through First Nine's knowing when to stop, Nine in the Second's natural pause, Nine in the Third's dedicated practice, Six in the Fourth's early prevention, and Six in the Fifth's gentle mastery — all accumulation now transforms into the power of free passage.
Nine at the Top resonates with the "flying dragon in heaven" of The Creative — both represent the supreme moment of full release. But this line carries greater ease: it is a breakthrough supported by the mountain's solid foundation, a soaring with deep roots.
Modern Insight: When all preparation, waiting, and refinement are in place, timing arrives naturally and the way opens of itself. True free passage comes from the completeness of accumulation, not from the impatient forcing of ambition.
